(Ami)sunderstanding

Yes, it’s practically a definition of “me”… I learn the truth and then I think “Am I an idiot or what?” How could I possibly miss something so blatantly obvious? Obviously this is all Sesame Street’s fault… It took me twenty years to figure out your cookie song, how do you like that for educational programming?

But seriously, dumb misunderstandings like this seem to frequent my life, sometimes remaining uncorrected until very recently. There was that time in sixth grade where I had to read about Medieval history in front of the class, only to learn that day that “sword” was pronounced “sord.” In eighth grade, I asked a friend who “Sean” was who’d signed her yearbook and she laughed and said “You mean Shawn?” Then there was that other incident…

Well maybe you’ll hear all that stuff in due time.

I used to be confused about Wednesday. I saw it on the board and was so excited because I thought there was a new holiday coming up. You know, “Wed-Nes-Day”.

In middle school I often found words I had read many times in books were not accented the way I had read them in my head. Still happens on from time to time.
