Our second entry into the Glass Urchin Two Year Anniversary Week is from little sister Mel!

I’m glad to have such a cool little sister like Mel. She teaches me a lot and is always there to support the people she cares about when they need her the most. She also thinks she can’t draw but I like her rendition of my hedgehoggy characters!

Shivi explains why her grandma makes her play Halo. Hope you all remember to eat this holiday!!

Thanks a lot Mom! Anyway, I think she mainly is worried us kids will get hurt. Well we already know who’s doing the bruisin’ in this relationship! (And you can just guess what movie I’m watching there, and yes, that totally happened too. I know I know, loser blah blah.)

Every kid who’s ever been to college knows it…. the questions (unless you majored in something you can actually use in real life, which was not what I did). What do you want to do? Where do you want to work? When are you going to get a job, you loser!? Okay maybe not that last one, but that’s sure what it feels like… And of course, who knows the answer to that? I still think ‘I like school’ might be my answer…

Who knew that some people learn that needed talent in art school? I guess it’s all partially my fault for being such a giver-upper on things… But like they say…. You’re never too old! Maybe I’ll go to art school this time for reals. ‘Til then you guys are getting more of my self-taught crap! ;D

Well I know it’s a little early for Mother’s Day, but I thought it might be better to be early rather than be late with it.

Another story of my parent’s youth? Well everyone seemed to enjoy my Mom’s Christmas story from earlier, so I decided to put down one of my Dad’s “childhood” (he was age 20 here) stories. Dad tells me a lot more of his light-hearted stories than Mom, mainly because he enjoyed playing pranks and tricks on people throughout his life. This one above is one of his favorite stories to tell of his time in the French Army.

I have to say, panel #7 was my most favorite panel I’ve done in a long time. It was cracking me up the whole time. As always, all of my comics are true, including this one. I wonder if there are a couple of French dudes out there who remember getting chased through the woods by a crazy man with a rifle because they didn’t know the “password” to get into the base. Panel #2 kind of reminds me of something you would see in Beetle Bailey hahaha.

So yeah. Dad does this, although I’m still not sure why. I’ve gotten pretty good at drawing jungle scenes and monkeys on eggs though! Something to definitely add to the resume.

By the by, I’ve been trying to improve my art lately, and one of the things I’m proudest of is learning how to do proper speech bubbles! It was beginning to annoy me! But thanks a lot to a simple tutorial that I found linked from some other webcomic, I found the secret to great bubbling. The tutorial can be found here, on a webcomic called Good Ship Chronicles, so you too can make fine speech bubbles.

Or I was thinking of calling it “The Unwanted Toy.”

This is a story Mom recalled to me about a Christmas from her childhood. I don’t know why, but it seemed such a sad story! I felt sorry for Mom, Grandma, and the unwanted stuffed kitty cat… A teeny mistake might go a long way in a kid’s life. Anyway, I just wanted to record this holiday story in comic form.  It took me a while, and playing with the paneling and set-up to get this right, I’m still not sure if I got the mood down.  Anyway, many thanks to Mom, for telling me the story and giving me the Bulgarian text.
